Sunday Nights

Lauren Dalrymple has presented an ‘Open Mic’ session at the Effra Hall for some 15 years. She has the most soulful blues jazz voice and sings and hosts the Open Mic jam. Just rock up with your instrument and register to perform. Sunday jam at The Effra will certainly get you going for Monday morning. Come along and soak in our amazing Sunday night Jam. (Except the last Sunday of the month.)

Tuesday Nights

Soothsayers and guest jazz musicians

Soothsayers will entertain and uplift you with a lively jazz fusion and the sound of afrobeat and reggae all blended together.  It is genius and they are here at The Effra every 2nd,4th & 5th Tuesday of the month.

Wednesday Night

Errol Linton

Come and listen to the blues lead by Harmonica wizard Errol Linton.  The Wednesday beats are an urban sound with rural roots. Some songs get the crowd grooving and then there’s the ska and blues vibe. A good mid-week music boost from our Brixton musician

Thursday Nights

Jamaica Jazzzz

Brilliant Resident band. Thursday nights have been enjoyed by many people for many years and still we enjoy…. The jazz, ska and reggae fusion is tastefully done leaving us with a feel good factor by the end of the session. The occasional reggae vocals on the night really add to the night. A really good experience to finish off the week and get you ready for the weekend. The Effra Hall on a Thursday is a popular night so come early and grab a seat.

Saturday Nights

Alan Weekes Quartet

A guitarist with a natural talent.  Known for his soulful rhythmic grooves and alluring solos in a variety of genres such as jazz, blues, reggae, ska, pop and opera, his talent has been in high demand for over 3 decades. We are blessed to have Alan Weekes here at The Effra every Saturday with the occasional guest replacement.  A great way to start your Saturday evening.
